What I Learned by Letting Go of Developer Ego

By Jason Evaristo — Wordpress Developer & SEO Specialist from Davao, Philippines

2 years ago, I would never say yes to working in WordPress or any type of low-code platform.

Not thinking I can’t design or learn how to use them — it’s only because of ego. I always thought to myself, “I studied this and that, I spent years learning complex dev resources, and then I’m just going to be a WordPress developer? Absolutely not.”

Not until I realized clients don’t really care as much as I do about which platform or technology I use to solve their business problems.

Not until I realized WordPress is not just a drag-and-drop tool. It’s way, way more than that.

— Custom theme development
— Plugin development
— Headless CMS and so much more

You’ll be thinking across the board — not only building the site, but system design, data architecture, compatibility with existing plugins, performance, and scaling.

You’re going to be thinking more about how clients get leads, sales, or traffic, either through general SEO or local SEO —

Making sure they show up when their potential customers are ready to buy.

And yeah, I think building a website that works — regardless of how complex or simple it is — is something you can really be proud of.

Not Sure How?
